6 Days 5 nights Marangu Route

Marangu Route is considered to be the oldest route of all Kilimanjaro climbing routes with established accommodation facilities (huts), so when using this route you will sleep on those huts as opposed to tents used on other routes. They call it the coca cola route as climbers have the opportunity to buy coca on the huts along the way, this trail climber starts from the southern circuit of the mountain its a relatively easy route, however, the route uses few days and offers little chances for acclimatization and that affect the summit success rate.

There are even showers (chilly) and a few flush bogs, which to some are literally a little bit of a luxurious on the mountain is also the most well-liked ascending route and is a properly established route on Kilimanjaro and is the right for these with no tenting expertise until you attain the primary hut Mandara. Itinerary Description by Day

Day: 1 Marangu gate to Mandra hut

Elevation: 6,046 ft to 8,858 ft

Hiking Time:  4-5 hours

Distance: 8 km | 5 miles

Habitat: Rain Forest

After breakfast, switch to Marangu gate and begin the climb by means of fascinating rain forests until you attain the primary hut Mandara. Meals and in a single day on the hut

Day: 2 Mandra hut to Horombo hut

Elevation: 8,858 ft to 12,205 ft

Hiking Time: 6-8 hours

Distance: 12 km | 7 miles

After breakfast, we start our climb through the forest till we reach the moorland where we can start our stunning view of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks which form the parts of Mount Kilimanjaro peaks (Summits). A picnic lunch is taken en route and in the afternoon, you arrive at Mandara Hut. An option of a short walk can be taken to Maundi Crater in the afternoon if desired.

Day: 3 Horombo hut to Mawenzi ridge then Horombo hut

Horombo Hut to Mawenzi Ridge

Elevation: 12,205 ft to 14,400 ft

Hiking Time: 2-3 hours

Distance: 5 km | 3 miles

Mawenzi Ridge to Horombo Hut

Elevation: 14,400 ft to 12,205 ft

Hiking Time: 1-2 hours

After breakfast, we proceed to Mawenzi ridge, and to improve our acclimatization, we walk to a higher altitude towards Mawenzi Volcano. The younger Mawenzi has been continually eroded for at least 400,000 years whilst Kibo has continued to grow and remains dormant to this day. In the afternoon you return to Horombo Huts to relax.

Day: 4 Horombo hut to Kibo hut

Elevation: 12,205 ft to 15,430 ft

Hiking Time: 6-8 hours

Distance: 10 km | 6 miles

Habitat: Alpine Desert

After breakfast, resume the climb, and the panorama turns rugged and rocky. Lobelias start to seem. Trek to Kibo Hut. Meals and in a single day on the hut. We will enjoy an early dinner and have to give ourselves a better slip to prepare for our ultimate summit challenge.

Day: 5 Kibo hut to the summit- Horombo hut

Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak

Elevation: 15,430 ft to 19,341 ft

Hiking Time: 6-8 hours

Distance: 6 km | 4 miles

Habitat: Arctic

Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

Elevation: 19,341 ft to 12,250 ft

Hiking Time: 4-5 hours

Distance: 16 km | 10 miles

Around midnight we will start our push to the summit its an interesting but challenging moment for any climber both mentally and physically of all the days in the journey due to the altitude and drastic weather changes normally ascend in the dark and have few spots of rest and proceed, luckily we will encounter iconic and appealing sunrise as we approach the summit that comes over Mawenzi. At last, we have made it we are at the summit of Africa’s highest and world free-standing mountain. After some time at the summit celebrating the accomplishment and taking photos, we will start our descent to Horombo hut for a quiet rest and in the evening, we will spend our last night on the mountain.

Day: 6 Horombo hut to Marangu gate

Elevation: 12,205 ft to 6,046 ft

Hiking Time: 5-7 hours

Distance: 20 km | 12 miles

Habitat: Rain Forest

After breakfast, we will start our trek downhill en route tropical rainforest to the Marangu gate Kilimanjaro national park offices for collecting our summit certificate, do team bonding, and do a goodbye session then proceed to the vehicle and drive back to the hotel and other ownership arrangements.
