Mount Kilimanjaro Trekking

Kilimanjaro, the top of Africa

Yes, this is Africa’s big one. It’s Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world with it’s peak 5,895 metres above sea level. This is the one you want to climb.

Surprisingly, it’s the highest mountain that you can actually walk up. However, whilst it is relatively easy for a fit person, you do need to be physically and mentally able. Reduced oxygen levels are often the cause of an unsuccessful attempt.

It also gets pretty cold up there. As there are a number of alternatives, we will help you select the most appropriate route for your abilities, and will prepare you well.

Your route up will take you through various climate zones and vegetation types – scrub, forest, alpine – and as you climb you will be awed by the panoramas that unfold before you. And you are sure to enjoy the camaraderie and spirit of adventure, thanks to the friendly professionalism of the guides who will accompany your group.

The trek will take between five and 10 days depending on the route and your personal fitness. We will provide all the necessary equipment and food, and our skilled, experienced guides will take great care of you all the way up and down. At the end, the whole experience will leave you with the greatest of sense of achievement.

What to Expect

You can expect severe variations in temperature. Be prepared for hot and humid conditions in the forests and for below-freezing conditions, ice rain and wind at the higher altitudes. You should wear thermal underwear and hiking boots, warm thick gloves and good quality, thermal socks.

Season & Climate

The best time to climb Kilimanjaro are the months of January through early-March and June through October. The clear skies, great views, and sunshine make for spectacular photo-opportunities and comfortable hiking conditions. These are also usually the drier months of the year and the busiest.

How to Get There

All you need is determination and the will to get to the summit. The real challenge with climbing Kilimanjaro is the altitude and the rate of ascent. Don’t worry we will be with you every step of the way! Our guides are highly skilled professionals and are a key component to your success.
